In the contemporary world, Research and studies centers (think tanks) representing a tangible evidence of the knowledge development in any country. These institutions, by producing a high-quality knowledge product, and its advanced human skills, have become a knowledge tank cannot be neglected or ignored, Especially the centers of strategic studies; As it is in direct contact with the environment of decision-making -people and issues- offers them multiple options to make rational decisions, after taking all the possibilities in the consideration , so you find every influential decision-maker in the contemporary world with a select group of advisers working in these centers.
In our country, which is beset by challenges, intersecting various interests and policies that complicate matters to the decision-maker, it is very useful that the research and studies centers have an influential role in this environment; to help decision-makers to make better choices, and to put the most appropriate policies to achieve higher national interests. Believing in this mission, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq has established a large number of research centers and units within its formations and in various human and scientific disciplines. Including the Center for Strategic Studies at Karbala University, which was established in 2012 to be involved in strategic studies, and so, Karbala University has provide the necessary human resource and material supplies.
During the short period since its inception, the Center has (carried out or conduct) many research activities within various programs, like holding scientific seminars, research workshops, and the formation of research teams, scientific conferences (national and international), And writing analytical articles for local, regional and international issues, As well as provide scientific advice to the federal government and the local government of Karbala, and preparing scientific researches according to the regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Through its various activities, our center has resonated well, in various level inside and outside Iraq, and so, the center research staff has improve many of their skills during performing their work.
The Center has an ambitious vision for future, aiming to make it a leading center in strategic analysis and research skills at the local, regional and international levels, and to engage in active partnerships with a corresponding institutions inside and outside Iraq. This vision is shared within both management, researchers and administrative staff who working together. The way to achieve this vision is not easy, but it is not impossible as long as the center are relying on a Ministry promoting the level of Iraqi higher education institutions, and a conscious administration in the presidency of the University of Karbala, wishing to obtain the Karbala University an advanced ranks for all its educational and research formations.
